I've always been obsessed with Mickey, as is everyone right? But since my little girl came into the picture, even more so! My 2.6 year old is absolutely in LOVE with Mickey, so it makes my love for him stronger too, naturally! When Disney started doing collaborations for their 90th Bday, I was literally buying everything they touched, from Sugarfina chocolate bars, to Vans collaborations! I was excited to see all the collaborations and then Dose of Colors announced theirs! What better duo than Disney & Makeup? Just the packaging alone makes this collection a must-have! And although I don't want to touch it...I will be swatching it for you guys; yes, that's how much I love you! Introducing the Dose of Colors X Mickey:
This palette comes with 6 shadows: 4 mattes and 2 shimmers & 1 highlighter. These shades are super pigmented, blendable, buildable and very versatile. If you're thinking, "wait a minute, how is red versatile?" - don't be afraid of the color! Reds and oranges are the perfect shades to help warm up a super cool toned eye. Use a small amount of "M is for Mischief" to blend out "Ah Shucks" or "Hooray" - or if you like a bold eye, or use it as a crease tone for "Let the Show Begin". You really can create so many looks with this one palette! The highlighter is a very beige-y, champagne-y tone and can also be warm with many different makeup looks as it is not golden or pink!
Lip it Up Satin Lipstick
Dose launched 3 shades of their Satin Lipsticks: 1928, Forever & infinite. Although I am reading a lot of comments about it being "boring" - let's be honest, what other shades will you be applying to your lips in the fall? Were talking about a 90th collaboration that leaves a special, long lasting impact; which is your essentials.
Lastly, she launched 3 lip glosses: Rockin' It, One & Only and Muah! The first 2 shades are very natural & versatile, while the last shade has golden specks/glitter; but of course you need the fireworks for the 90th celebration! Although I am not a bronzy glittery lippie girl because it just doesn't fit my skin tone, I absolutely love the first 2! Rockin' It has a cooler undertone while One & Only is a bit warmer.
I love that Dose created a Classic collection for this amazing collaboration! If you're going to have this palette forever, you gotta make sure its something you will always love! Congratulations to Anna & the Dose of Colors team for another successful collaboration: the Dream collaboration!
I’m the girl who used to be at the beach at least once a week, go to tanning salons (as bad as they were) and just always had my tanned skin on point; however, this was all before I had a child. Now, beach days include me chasing her to the water, controlling her from eating sand, and so on. Ok fine...let’s not blame it all on her.
I’m in my 30s and truly afraid of sun damage. In other words, I’m smarter now? Haha. Anyway, self-tanners have been my way of life and I’ve gone through many! The good, the bad and the ugly! I am not against white skin but I have see-ru skin, meaning my veins and capillaries are all very visible and it’s not pretty. Below, you will find a list of my favorite self-tanners and what and when I use each one for. Hope it’s helpful!
Vita Liberata Medium Bronzer - This is not so much a self-tanner but a makeup/bronzer. If my legs aren’t tanned and I wasn’t prepared to wear a skirt, I don’t leave the house without this! This bronzer is absolutely magical and leaves your legs looking so beautiful! Not only does if give your skin a beautiful glow but it covers everything and even makes your legs look toned! Make sure it’s dry before you dress because ultimately, it’s makeup. It comes in several shades so you can choose the right one based on your natural skin tone.
Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning - I was prepping for a little photo shoot in Paris and I was going to wear a short dress. I guess Paris isn’t big on tanning supplies so I had to literally go on a hunt! Finally, I found this product and decided to give it a try. Oh. My. God. It’s probably the best tanning lotion I have ever tried; it gave my skin the most beautiful natural color with no streakiness and no bad odor! It shows up within only a couple hours and washes off evenly. I applied it again the second day for the shoot because it leaves this beautiful shimmer that makes your body glisten! The best part? Apply with your hands and wash it off right away. Voila! No mittens or gloves involved.
Lorac TANtalizer - This is an OG favorite of mine for years now and continues to still stand in my cabinet. Whether you have a tan or not, this bronzer does something to your body! I wouldn’t recommend this on an average Tuesday as it’s extremely high shine; but events & photoshoots - this is your jam! Gives your skin that sought after “bronze” that everyone is looking for. The color is beautiful and you look almost, metallic - in a pretty way though! Again, it’s makeup so make sure it’s dry and wear your clothes carefully. This comes in two shades so you can pick which one is better for your skin tone!
I get asked about my go-to daily products in bag all the time! I try to keep my makeup bag as minimal as possible because I don’t want to haul it around all day. Today, I’m going to share with you all the essential items I carry with me on a daily basis!
Here’s what’s in my everyday bag:
1. Lip balm
I always have dry lips! It could be that I’m constantly putting on liquid lipsticks, could be the lack of water, the weather or my constantly licking my lips. In any case, it’s a struggle. My current favorite lip balm is the Smoothness Lip Care from Nivea - it heals and soothes my lips and not just temporarily! Not only is it enriched with Shea Butter but it also has SPF 15 to protect your lips from any harmful sun rays.
Always be prepared ladies! I don’t have sweating issues at all but it’s always good to be prepared for any situation you might get into which is why I always carry deodorant around with me. My go-to deodorant for years now had been the Dove. These days, I prefer something more natural, like the Coconut Deodorant from Kopari. It contains coconut oil, coconut water, and sage oil to sooth the under arms and holds all day.
3. Makeup Sponge
Whatever sponge I’ve used to apply and set my makeup that day, comes with me in a little satchel. I like to keep it in a little nylon baggie to not only let it breathe, but also keeps in sanitary. If I get shiny throughout the day, I just take out the sponge and use the powdery side to blot my makeup without ruining it. It’s all you need! Of course, my go to is the Elcie Cosmetics Velvet Sponge. :)
4. Hand Cream
Regardless of the weather, I suffer with extremely dry hands. It may be the years of working with clients and washing my hands every hour of the day or having a child and constantly washing her hands or mine. In any case, lotion is an essential. My hands have aged due to dryness throughout the years and it’s an actual problem. My absolute favorite one has to be the Shea Butter hand cream from L’Occitane. It contains honey, almond extract, coconut oil and shea butter to help leave your hands soft and smooth all day.
Now that I am pregnant, I get really nauseous when I don’t eat. I always like to keep a little snack or a bar in my bag for times when I am on the road. This helps me get a little food in my system while being healthy and holding my hunger for a good amount of time. My favorite bar is the KIND bars. They have a bunch of different flavors you can pick and choose from but my personal favorite is the Peanut Butter Chocolate flavor.
Rough skin is something we commonly deal with, especially as winter approaches. The two products below have completely changed my skin. I am sure you can find replacement products that work best for you, but I've tried a lot and this actually works!
1. Soap & Glory: Flake Away
This Soap & Glory Skin Polish was sent to me so long ago and only in the past few months I've been using it and have completely fallen in love with it. It has sugar, shea butter, peach seed powder, grape seed oil, almond oil and it smells so yummy! I use it in the shower with exfoliating gloves (skip the gloves if it feels too harsh for you) and take a walnut size at a time and scrub my entire body with it. When you wash it off, your skin feels like a baby's butt! You can get it at ULTA for $15.
2. Bio Oil: Skincare Oil
I have been using this Bio-Oil for about 6 months now. I had mentioned on my Instagram how a friend of mine had the smoothest skin in the world! When I asked her what she was using, she said she swore by this product and has been using it for a decade. I am on my 5th bottle and completely addicted; this stuff is so good! Almost all body moisturizers I've ever used don't even come close to this bio-oil. It not only softens and treats your skin, but it helps with scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, aging & dehydrated skin. Let's just call it the magic oil! I get it from Amazon for $14.99.
Typically in the fall, we gear towards a darker lip and light eyes. But we've been into color more this year than at least the last 5 years! I think this Fall's trends are going to be spiced up with deep, bold & sparkly eyes. We are are not afraid to use color anymore, even the usual au-natural red carpet makeups this year, proves it! Usually, the runway shows are ahead of the game and this season, we saw a lot of color! We obviously won't be applying glitter all over our face, but glitter will definitely be back in. Have you seen the new Anastasia glitters that are launching for the holidays? I'm here for it! What are your thoughts?
I know this is a generic one, but probably one of the most important ones! Evening wash-off is really important because of all the makeup we put on all day. Even if you don't wear makeup on the daily, you want to get rid of the daily toxins. Morning cleanse is more optional as some people like their skin to have a little moisture in the morning - in this case, you can just rinse with water. My current favorite cleanser: Glow Recipe Blueberry Cleaner
Your skincare routine is essential in keeping up with your skin! Some people are definitely born with better skin genetics, but for the rest of us, this is a must. I will do a separate post of how often each product should be used, but in the meantime, your essentials are: cleanse & moisturize. When you are moisturizing, don't forget your neck. Also, your daily moisturizer may not be good enough for your under-eyes, or they may irritate them. Do not forget your eye cream! It is more important than your moisturizer as it is the thinnest skin on your face - take care of it. My current essentials: Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Age Defense & Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream
Do not neglect the sunscreen. I did my share of damage at the beach and tanning salons in my early 20's and now I will not go in the sun without sunscreen. Throughout time, I have developed freckles & lately, even dark spots. Even with sunscreen, these dark spots tend to get emphasized and then I have to work 10 times harder into getting rid of them. Do not leave home without your sunscreen! I personally LOVE the Coola Mineral Sunscreen!
This is a given. Hydrating your skin is essential in keeping it looking fresh, glowing & minimizes the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles. The more dehydrated your skin is, the more your fine lines will be visible. Your skin breaks in movement and needs hydration to keep it afloat! So take a 32ml. water and just walk around with it all day - try finishing it (or 2), anything is better than nothing! I use the Hydro Flask and its seriously the best thing ever! Keeps your water cold for hours and hours.
5. Eating Habits
Stay away from acidic, salty and sugary foods! I know it is easier said than done; but start small and work your way to clean. Acidic foods & salty foods bring down the PH balance of your skin. Try to eat foods with higher levels of PH to hydrate your skin, keep it clear and as fresh as possible. You can check out this website for PH levels in different foods.
6. Hands & Items Away from Face
This habit right here is effortless yet were all guilty of it. We sit at a table and use our hands to keep our chin up. We use our phones and stick them to our face as were talking. Our hands and phone touch everything throughout the day, then were taking that to our face. A simple habit we need to acquire. Quick Tip: use ear phones.
7. Beauty Sleep
Something almost all of us are guilty of - lack of sleep! I know this is a hard one, especially if you've created a habit of sleeping late; but this is essential in your skin having that innate glow. The worlds amount of skincare won't help if you're guilty of continued lack of sleep. Your skin is duller and your under-eyes are darker. Make it a habit to get your 8 hours of sleep! In addition, I've been using a silk pillow case and I feel it has made a huge difference in my skin and hair! Make sure you choose your right pillow size!
After almost 2 years in the making, introducing the Elcie Cosmetics Complete Remedy Silque Concealers & Translucent Powders! This launched Tuesday September 18 @ 10am and has been a huge success since. Although alone, they are amazing products, together - they are magical! From the unique metal tip applicator on the concealer to the luxury acrylic packaging of the powder, we meet your luxury requirements to its standards.
Complete Remedy Silque Concealer
Our concealers come in 7 shades with a gradience from "light" to "dark" with simplified names to help you chose your shade. As you know, our line is divided into 4 categories: light, medium, tan & dark. Figure out which category you are in and then use the concealer that compliments that category. You may also use the in-between shades to go brighter for highlighting or darker for correcting. The metal tip on the applicator will help depuff your under-eyes and works as a great blending tool fitting right between your eyes and nose. With the added eye cream benefits of caffeine, hyaluronic acid and cranberry seed oil, your under-eyes are left smooth, hydrated, de-puffed and also diminishes the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.
User tip: Add the smallest amount and place a little stripe or dot underneath your eyes and use the metal tip to blend all the way around. $28
The translucent loose powder comes in two shades: Light/Medium & Tan/Dark. Each shade customized to universally fit a wide range of skin tones. While the powder sets in your makeup for an all days wear, it softens and blurs your fine lines & powders, leaving you with the smoothest looking skin. The powder itself is not dry and will not leave your skin cakey, but more like velvet.
User Tip: Use a fluffy brush to set your face, or a sponge to help "bake" the powder. $29
I hope you guys love these products as much as I enjoyed creating them. Concealer was one of the hardest things Ive had to create, next to my foundations, as concealers are a very sensitive subject for a sensitive area: the under-eyes! But with one use, you will see how it is nothing like you've ever used before.
As always, thank you guys so much for the love and support. I wouldn't be able to do what I love & expand the brand the way I have, if it wasn't for you guys. In the meantime, please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!
Who would've thunk it? Well, I guess I did! Haha. We were in Hawaii for 5 days. We put on sunblock every single day (40 for the face, 50 for the body), none of us burned for the first 4 days. Then comes Day 5 and the sun was not playing games anymore. ALL 4 of us burned (along with Kat, the tiniest bit on her shoulders)! Either her sunscreen was stronger/better than mine or I just kept showering her in it. I layed down to tan for maybe about an hour, front and back. As I was laying there, I jumped up and remembered I didn't sunblock my ears! I mean...Ive had sunburn issues before, so I know; but I also knew it was too late. My face got a nice color, my ears? FRIED. In any case, because we kept going in and out of the water, all of our bodies burned, like, really bad. We went back home and realized out of all the sunblocks I bought, we didn't have any after sunburn lotions. What I DID bring was Kat's butt paste for diaper rashes. If it calms and heals the redness/irritation & burn from her butt, why couldn't it do the same to our bodies?
This SAVED us! I noticed Desitin had 13% Zinc Oxide which helps with inflammation and helps heal quicker. Although thick and sticky, we put that cream all over our bodies. It does burn for a few minutes (poor babies) but then really calms down your burn/pain! When I came home, I found Kat's Burt's Bees Diaper Rash Creamand noticed that one had 40% Zinc Oxide! I am sure there are many products out there that are specifically made for after-sun burns and I am in no way a scientist or chemist, but this was a sunburn GEM. Also, I read that people have used it on their acne. What are your thoughts?
The caption is exactly what I thought when I got this package from Becca. To be honest, I love every single shade they have. Opal has been my JAM forever, and when I am lighter, Moonstone & when tanner, Champagne Pop. I believe they have 5 or more other shades. So here I am thinking, what other color can you actually create that are good enough as the others? Introducting, Parisian Lights in collaboration with Sananas (@sananas2016). Can I just tell you that I have never seen a highlighter shade like this? The second I swatched, I was in awe! How did Becca kill it once again? The best way I can describe this shade is a soft pink highlighter with gold flecks. This highlighter has dimension and that is one of my favorite qualities about it, in addition to their already perfect formula. So then I actually applied it and it is safe to say, it is probably my new favorite highlighter. I have a little bit of a tan now (medium toned) and it just looks like my skin is glistening and the hue is perfect. To be honest, I didn't know who Sananas was until I searched for her; but I learned she is French (obviously) and the Eiffel tower print with the glistening stars is just way too cute - I didn't want to touch it! I still have the Champagne pop with the actual champagne bottle on it at home and haven't touched that one. I think I need to get another one I can shrine in my collectibles :)
Spring is almost here & so are the pastels! Before we get into the bright bold beautiful Summer colors - enjoy the feminine vibe of the season. Blush, almost always, looks good on any skin tone. You just have to find the "right" blush for you. If you are in the lighter category, go for a nude blush - its going to look pink on you! If you are in the darker category, go for a deeper pink so that it stands out on our lips and looks like your natural blushing lip color.
