Typically in the fall, we gear towards a darker lip and light eyes. But we've been into color more this year than at least the last 5 years! I think this Fall's trends are going to be spiced up with deep, bold & sparkly eyes. We are are not afraid to use color anymore, even the usual au-natural red carpet makeups this year, proves it! Usually, the runway shows are ahead of the game and this season, we saw a lot of color! We obviously won't be applying glitter all over our face, but glitter will definitely be back in. Have you seen the new Anastasia glitters that are launching for the holidays? I'm here for it! What are your thoughts?
I know this is a generic one, but probably one of the most important ones! Evening wash-off is really important because of all the makeup we put on all day. Even if you don't wear makeup on the daily, you want to get rid of the daily toxins. Morning cleanse is more optional as some people like their skin to have a little moisture in the morning - in this case, you can just rinse with water. My current favorite cleanser: Glow Recipe Blueberry Cleaner
Your skincare routine is essential in keeping up with your skin! Some people are definitely born with better skin genetics, but for the rest of us, this is a must. I will do a separate post of how often each product should be used, but in the meantime, your essentials are: cleanse & moisturize. When you are moisturizing, don't forget your neck. Also, your daily moisturizer may not be good enough for your under-eyes, or they may irritate them. Do not forget your eye cream! It is more important than your moisturizer as it is the thinnest skin on your face - take care of it. My current essentials: Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Age Defense & Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream
Do not neglect the sunscreen. I did my share of damage at the beach and tanning salons in my early 20's and now I will not go in the sun without sunscreen. Throughout time, I have developed freckles & lately, even dark spots. Even with sunscreen, these dark spots tend to get emphasized and then I have to work 10 times harder into getting rid of them. Do not leave home without your sunscreen! I personally LOVE the Coola Mineral Sunscreen!
This is a given. Hydrating your skin is essential in keeping it looking fresh, glowing & minimizes the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles. The more dehydrated your skin is, the more your fine lines will be visible. Your skin breaks in movement and needs hydration to keep it afloat! So take a 32ml. water and just walk around with it all day - try finishing it (or 2), anything is better than nothing! I use the Hydro Flask and its seriously the best thing ever! Keeps your water cold for hours and hours.
5. Eating Habits
Stay away from acidic, salty and sugary foods! I know it is easier said than done; but start small and work your way to clean. Acidic foods & salty foods bring down the PH balance of your skin. Try to eat foods with higher levels of PH to hydrate your skin, keep it clear and as fresh as possible. You can check out this website for PH levels in different foods.
6. Hands & Items Away from Face
This habit right here is effortless yet were all guilty of it. We sit at a table and use our hands to keep our chin up. We use our phones and stick them to our face as were talking. Our hands and phone touch everything throughout the day, then were taking that to our face. A simple habit we need to acquire. Quick Tip: use ear phones.
7. Beauty Sleep
Something almost all of us are guilty of - lack of sleep! I know this is a hard one, especially if you've created a habit of sleeping late; but this is essential in your skin having that innate glow. The worlds amount of skincare won't help if you're guilty of continued lack of sleep. Your skin is duller and your under-eyes are darker. Make it a habit to get your 8 hours of sleep! In addition, I've been using a silk pillow case and I feel it has made a huge difference in my skin and hair! Make sure you choose your right pillow size!
After almost 2 years in the making, introducing the Elcie Cosmetics Complete Remedy Silque Concealers & Translucent Powders! This launched Tuesday September 18 @ 10am and has been a huge success since. Although alone, they are amazing products, together - they are magical! From the unique metal tip applicator on the concealer to the luxury acrylic packaging of the powder, we meet your luxury requirements to its standards.
Complete Remedy Silque Concealer
Our concealers come in 7 shades with a gradience from "light" to "dark" with simplified names to help you chose your shade. As you know, our line is divided into 4 categories: light, medium, tan & dark. Figure out which category you are in and then use the concealer that compliments that category. You may also use the in-between shades to go brighter for highlighting or darker for correcting. The metal tip on the applicator will help depuff your under-eyes and works as a great blending tool fitting right between your eyes and nose. With the added eye cream benefits of caffeine, hyaluronic acid and cranberry seed oil, your under-eyes are left smooth, hydrated, de-puffed and also diminishes the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.
User tip: Add the smallest amount and place a little stripe or dot underneath your eyes and use the metal tip to blend all the way around. $28
The translucent loose powder comes in two shades: Light/Medium & Tan/Dark. Each shade customized to universally fit a wide range of skin tones. While the powder sets in your makeup for an all days wear, it softens and blurs your fine lines & powders, leaving you with the smoothest looking skin. The powder itself is not dry and will not leave your skin cakey, but more like velvet.
User Tip: Use a fluffy brush to set your face, or a sponge to help "bake" the powder. $29
I hope you guys love these products as much as I enjoyed creating them. Concealer was one of the hardest things Ive had to create, next to my foundations, as concealers are a very sensitive subject for a sensitive area: the under-eyes! But with one use, you will see how it is nothing like you've ever used before.
As always, thank you guys so much for the love and support. I wouldn't be able to do what I love & expand the brand the way I have, if it wasn't for you guys. In the meantime, please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!
Who would've thunk it? Well, I guess I did! Haha. We were in Hawaii for 5 days. We put on sunblock every single day (40 for the face, 50 for the body), none of us burned for the first 4 days. Then comes Day 5 and the sun was not playing games anymore. ALL 4 of us burned (along with Kat, the tiniest bit on her shoulders)! Either her sunscreen was stronger/better than mine or I just kept showering her in it. I layed down to tan for maybe about an hour, front and back. As I was laying there, I jumped up and remembered I didn't sunblock my ears! I mean...Ive had sunburn issues before, so I know; but I also knew it was too late. My face got a nice color, my ears? FRIED. In any case, because we kept going in and out of the water, all of our bodies burned, like, really bad. We went back home and realized out of all the sunblocks I bought, we didn't have any after sunburn lotions. What I DID bring was Kat's butt paste for diaper rashes. If it calms and heals the redness/irritation & burn from her butt, why couldn't it do the same to our bodies?
This SAVED us! I noticed Desitin had 13% Zinc Oxide which helps with inflammation and helps heal quicker. Although thick and sticky, we put that cream all over our bodies. It does burn for a few minutes (poor babies) but then really calms down your burn/pain! When I came home, I found Kat's Burt's Bees Diaper Rash Creamand noticed that one had 40% Zinc Oxide! I am sure there are many products out there that are specifically made for after-sun burns and I am in no way a scientist or chemist, but this was a sunburn GEM. Also, I read that people have used it on their acne. What are your thoughts?
The caption is exactly what I thought when I got this package from Becca. To be honest, I love every single shade they have. Opal has been my JAM forever, and when I am lighter, Moonstone & when tanner, Champagne Pop. I believe they have 5 or more other shades. So here I am thinking, what other color can you actually create that are good enough as the others? Introducting, Parisian Lights in collaboration with Sananas (@sananas2016). Can I just tell you that I have never seen a highlighter shade like this? The second I swatched, I was in awe! How did Becca kill it once again? The best way I can describe this shade is a soft pink highlighter with gold flecks. This highlighter has dimension and that is one of my favorite qualities about it, in addition to their already perfect formula. So then I actually applied it and it is safe to say, it is probably my new favorite highlighter. I have a little bit of a tan now (medium toned) and it just looks like my skin is glistening and the hue is perfect. To be honest, I didn't know who Sananas was until I searched for her; but I learned she is French (obviously) and the Eiffel tower print with the glistening stars is just way too cute - I didn't want to touch it! I still have the Champagne pop with the actual champagne bottle on it at home and haven't touched that one. I think I need to get another one I can shrine in my collectibles :)
Spring is almost here & so are the pastels! Before we get into the bright bold beautiful Summer colors - enjoy the feminine vibe of the season. Blush, almost always, looks good on any skin tone. You just have to find the "right" blush for you. If you are in the lighter category, go for a nude blush - its going to look pink on you! If you are in the darker category, go for a deeper pink so that it stands out on our lips and looks like your natural blushing lip color.
My skincare routine changes occasionally; depending on the season, what my skin needs & of course, new products I am sent. But throughout this process, I find my absolute must-haves that I feel are either very impactful or a constant in my routine, regardless of any of the above! Also, keep in mind we all have different skin types, different age groups and different preferences. I highly suggest looking into my recommendations to make sure that it is right for you! I explain it all in the video below - but also have all the products I use in the caption of this video along with links & descriptions. It took me a long time to find the links to each product so I hope its helpful, haha! Let me know your thoughts and YOUR absolute must-haves. I am always looking for the next best thing!
