What is Double-Cleanse and Why You Should Be Doing it.

We’ve heard double-cleanse a lot in the past year or so; but do we know what it really means? Are we doing it the right way? If you find yourself asking these questions, continue reading.

Double-Cleansing really emerged from Korean Beauty - they have a very thorough skin process (which we will get into another time). One thing we do know is that Koreans have amazing skin and their products are top notch. So I’m doing, whatever they’re doing, for sure!

Double-Cleansing is a 2 step cleansing process with an oil based cleanser and then your original cleanser. A lot of us just use one cleanser to wash off our makeup and skin, but if you wear makeup on a regular basis, you’re probably leaving a lot behind - and probably stripping your skin of its natural oils.

Step 1 is your oil-based cleanser which will break down your makeup and remove everything including dirt, pollution and such your skin has carried throughout the day. Because your first cleanser is oil based; it does not strip your skin while trying to remove your makeup. A few of my favorites are Lise Watier Deep Cleansing Oil and Malin + Goetz Facial Cleansing Oil.

Your Step 2 cleanser then can be the cleanser you like to use that’s specifically for your skin type. Whether you are oily, dry, acne-prone, anti-aging, etc. - your second cleanser should be right for your skin. Your second cleanser should be your “treatment” - not technically, but basically!

Now you have perfectly cleansed clean pores and skin, ready for skincare!
